Quick question. Who is the real guest of honour at your Christmas lunch?
Gogo will be there. The cousins will be there. Uncle Boetie will be there, explaining the cricket to people who did not ask.
And the person you are buying for will spend most of it under the table, feeding gammon to the dog.
You know the one. Lovely human. Prefers their dog to most humans. Including, on a bad day, you.
So here are our Christmas gifts for dog lovers who will always, always choose the dog. Engraved pet tags, bandannas with a name on them and a bowl that belongs to one very specific dog, all made by hand in our George workshop.
Because the quickest way to a dog person's heart is through their dog.
The Dog Is the Main Event. We Have Made Peace With This.
Here's the thing about dog people.
Buy them a candle and they will say thank you.
Buy their dog something and they will show it to everyone at the braai.
Twice. With photos. From several angles.
So here's our very scientific Wild Mongoo test for Christmas gifts for dog lovers:
Will the dog wear it, eat out of it, or be photographed in it?
YES: wrap it.
NO: that's a candle. Put it down.
And if it has the dog's name on it? That's not a present. That's a family heirloom with fur on it.
For Biltong, Who Will Be in Every Christmas Photo
Meet Biltong. Jack Russell. Nine kilos of pure opinion.
Biltong is in every family photo. Not because anyone invites him. Because he sprints into the frame at the exact moment Gogo says "cheese".
If he is going to photobomb Christmas anyway, he may as well be dressed for it.
Personalised Pet Bandanna
from R139
Soft scuba fabric in Christmas red or green (or turquoise, yellow or black, for the less festive dog), with his name across it for R25 extra. Now every photo says BILTONG. As if anyone could forget.
Add his nameMore of a print person? The Good Boy/Girl Bandanna (from R99) is covered in walkies, treats and compliments, and it can carry a name too. Ideal for the dog who is a very good boy. Mostly. When people are watching.
For Duchess, Who Treats the Gate as a Suggestion
Duchess is a Labrador. At the vet she is "Lady Duchess of Plett". At home she is Duchie, Dutch, or "DUCHESS, NO".
Duchess has never once used the gate. Duchess has found four other ways out. One of them is through the neighbour's hedge.
Her human does not need another dog lead. Her human needs a tag. A pretty one, with Duchess's name on the front and a phone number on the back, so whoever finds her two roads down knows exactly who to WhatsApp.
Gold Heart Pet Tag
R149
A shiny little gold heart, engraved with her name on the front and your number on the back. Sweet enough for Christmas morning. Practical enough for the next time she finds the gap in the fence.
Engrave her tagShopping for a big dog? The Round Dog Tag (Large) at R149 has plenty of room. Sir Woofington the Third needs a lot more real estate than Max.
A little tip from us: engrave the name the dog actually answers to. Not the one on the vet card. Nobody has ever shouted "Lady Duchess of Plett" across a park.
For Mielie, Who Eats Every Meal Like It's Her Last
Mielie is a rescue. She has been fed twice a day, every single day, for six years.
Mielie still eats every meal like the kitchen is about to close.
She deserves a bowl that is officially hers. In writing. So the cat knows.
Dog Personalised Bone Bowl
R234
A sturdy bowl with a bone on the side and her name on the bone, in pink or black. Dinner becomes a bit of an occasion. Not that Mielie was ever waiting for an occasion.

Please Don't Leave the Dog Until the 23rd
We say this with love.
There is no drawer in George full of tags that already say BILTONG. Our engraved ID tags take around 10 working days to make. Then a very patient courier carries it from George to wherever Biltong happens to be barking.
And December is our busiest month of the year. Everybody remembers the dog at the same time.
Today? Lovely.
Early November? Great.
22 December? Biltong gets a printed photo of his tag. He will eat it.
One small thing: anything with a name on it is made for one dog only, so it can't be returned or resold. Is it Mielie or Mealie? Check it twice. Santa does. So does the dog.
Your Dog-Lover Christmas Questions, Answered
What are good Christmas gifts for dog lovers?
Something their dog will actually use, with the dog's name on it. An engraved pet tag, a name bandanna or a personalised bowl gets used every day and turns up in every photo. It also tells a dog lover you were paying attention, which for a dog person is the whole gift.
Can I add my dog's name to a Wild Mongoo pet gift?
On many of them, yes. Our metal ID tags are engraved with your pet's name on the front and your number on the back. Selected bandannas take a name for R25 extra, and the Dog Personalised Bone Bowl carries your dog's name too.
How long do engraved pet tags take?
Around 10 working days to make, because each one is made and engraved by hand in our George workshop. Then add courier time to wherever you are in South Africa. For Christmas, order by early November and you can relax.
When should I order personalised dog gifts for Christmas in South Africa?
As early as you can. December is our busiest month and the couriers are busy too, so ordering by early November gives your gift the best chance of arriving with time to spare.
And Now for the Best Kind of People
Here's the really good bit.
You might prefer dogs to most people. Honestly? Fair.
But every tag, bandanna and bowl on this page was made in our George workshop by women who are earning, learning and building a future of their own.
100% of our proceeds go straight back into empowering women. Into jobs, skills, training and opportunities.
So yes, the dog gets the present.
But the people who made it? Even Duchess would come straight home for them.
